Rail Technical Strategy Webinar Series 2020 | Optimised Train Operations

About this Event

Optimised Train Operations

The Rail Technical Strategy (RTS), identifies five priorities that are key to the future of the railway and require a step change in the technical solutions. This webinar, the third in a series addressing each of the five identified priorities, will focus on ‘Optimised Train Operations’

High service reliability, more agile and robust train planning solutions, and improved solutions to better manage and increase capacity where needed are at the very heart of ensuring that rail retains and attracts new customers. The ‘Optimised train operations’ priority sets out industry goals to provide reliable train services and network capacity that has been improved by real-time management, better train planning and simulation, and shorter headways together with new solutions at notes.

With a keynote address from Patrick Verwer Chief Executive Officer, Govia Thameslink Railway, join us to explore a selection of activity underway in this space and engage with this RTS functional priority and its routemap in more detail.

We invite you to explore the RTS content for this priority here.

Register above to join us in discussing key issues that need to be addressed if we are to achieve our goals. The webinar link will be sent to you in the confirmation email.

The webinar will be recorded and there will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the webinar and a discussion element

Background

Britain’s railway must increase the speed at which research, and innovation is conducted and put into action to improve performance and reduce costs. This will be vital to attract customers back to the railway in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. The requirement to invest in forward–looking technical solutions from development to successful deployment is more prominent now than ever before.

Senior rail leaders from across the industry have reaffirmed their commitment for the shift needed in innovation set out in this latest edition of the Rail Technical Strategy (RTS). This RTS identifies five priorities that are key to the future of the railway and require a step change in the technical solutions used:

  • Easy to use for all
  • Low emissions
  • Optimised train operations
  • Reliable and easy to maintain
  • Data driven
