UKRRIN Annual Conference 2019

We are delighted to announce UKRRIN will host its second Annual Conference Thursday 21 November at the Repertory Theatre in Birmingham.

Join us for this event to understand what UKRRIN is, what the network is doing and what we can do for the rail supply chain. The theme for this year’s event is: Diversity, skills and talent to build UK Rail Capabilities.

About this conference

GB rail is facing a period of uncertainty but in spite of this, people and goods continue to be moved via the railways. It is paramount that we work together to put our customers first and keep innovating to deliver. To do this, we need to make the short-term changes and advancements which help us to achieve our long-term goals.

This means being ready and willing to generate new ideas, adapt and take fresh approaches to challenges, understanding how these can lead to significant change. UKRRIN aims to do just that by bringing together world-class academics and key industry partners in a more strategic and focused way, to turn novel ideas into new innovations for the railway.

The conference will allow delegates to:

  • Understand how engagement with the network and its members could benefit your business, and the opportunities available for SMEs and the rail supply chain to do so
  • Discuss the future strategic direction for rail innovation, understand how UKRRIN is working with industry to refresh the Rail Technical Strategy, and deliver against our long-term goals.
  • Explore an exciting exhibition showcasing network capabilities and facilities. Delegates will also have opportunities to hear a range of case studies showcasing research activities
  • Meet those directly involved, and speak to like-minded people working to increase the uptake of novel research and new technologies.

Conference format

The conference is a one day event, and free to attend which will include plenary sessions, breakout sessions, an exhibition and a networking drinks reception. This year we will also host a conference dinner (at an additional cost of £50 + VAT), at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham, (located just 3 mins away from the conference venue).

We invite all those with a vested interest in rail research and innovation to attend, including those working in other sectors who may wish to understand the opportunities available for research and innovation activities in rail.
