World Congress on Railway Research: Call for Papers

03rd February 2021

The 13th World Congress on Railway Research (WCRR) is coming to the United Kingdom, proudly hosted by RSSB and the University of Birmingham.

The WCRR Organising Committee is now inviting the submission of abstracts for presentations at the 2022 Congress in line with the theme:

Reshaping our railways post-pandemic: Research with an impact

Call for Papers

WCRR aims to promote the tangible value of railway research and the benefits that international collaboration brings to research activities. If you are a rail professional or researcher, this is an excellent opportunity to raise your profile within the global research and innovation community, and to share your work with international experts.

The 2022 Congress will focus on research that has delivered, or will deliver, real change within the rail industry, and the projects that offer benefit to passengers, freight, customers, the environment and the economy as a whole. Tangible impact and knowledge sharing will be key factors that will inform the selection of papers.

Session topics and subtopics

The congress will be structured around eight session topics:

  • Low emissions
  • Easy to use for all
  • Optimised operation of trains
  • Reliable and easy to maintain moving assets
  • Reliable and easy to maintain fixed assets
  • Reliable and easy to maintain asset interfaces
